Each month, Professor Jared Shaw with the UC Davis Department of Chemistry hosts the Davis Science Café, featuring scientists who are studying some of today’s cutting edge topics. This month’s speaker is Prof. Graham Coop in the UC Davis Department of Evolution and Ecology who studies evolution as it shapes genetic differences in individuals. Invite a friend, and get here early to grab a seat at G. Street Wunderbar. Let’s drink to science!
Abstract: Graham will talk about personal genomics and genealogy. He’ll explain surprising applications of these ideas from tracking down the golden state killer to understanding our relationship to our close evolutionary cousins, the Neanderthals.
