Each month, Professor Jared Shaw with the UC Davis Department of Chemistry hosts the Davis Science Café, featuring scientists who are studying some of today’s cutting edge topics. This month’s speaker is Prof. David Olson in the UC Davis Department of Chemistry who studies psychedelic drugs as neurotherapeutics. Invite a friend, and get here early to grab a seat at G. Street Wunderbar. Let’s drink to science!
Abstract: Psychedelics and related drugs are notorious for their effects on perception, but they are also some of the most exciting experimental therapeutics in psychiatry today. Our research group studies this class of molecules to develop safer and more effective medicines for diseases like depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and substance use disorder.
