If you’re new to the CapSciComm network, or if you’re interested in improving our programming and events, we especially invite you to attend. The CapSciComm Board will give a brief update about our continuing initiatives, including our Science Tours and Professional Workshops, and continuing support for science cafés and public science initiatives in the region.
We founded CapSciComm in 2013 to create a fun, supportive community in the Capital Region for anyone passionate about the craft of communicating science. Our diversity has been our strength — our network spans veterans and novices in journalism, public relations, creative, policymaking, public science, and academic research. Our service has been our pride — becoming a resource for other sectors and organizations seeking advice on science engagement, and providing our own community with the tools and social network for professional advancement.
All because we believe in the potential and the critical importance of the Capital Region. As Sacramento’s culture and economy revives and matures, and as California continues its leadership in research and policy, demand for the clear communication of science — for knowledge and for entertainment — becomes ever more important.
We look forward to seeing everyone this June. Bring a friend — and let’s drink to science!
