Science Café Events in Sacramento Region for January 2017

“Milking Alfalfa For All It’s Worth:
The Role of Agriculture in Bird Conservation”
SCIENCE NIGHT LIVE with the WOW
Wednesday, Jan. 4th, 2017
6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
World of Wonders Science Museum
2 North Sacramento Street, Lodi
FREE TO ATTEND
Wine/beer cash bar and food truck on site

Join your host Nick Gray, Education Director at the WOW, for an evening learning experience in Lodi!  We all know happy cows come from California, but it takes nearly 600,000 acres of alfalfa to keep them that way!  It’s not just the state’s 2 million dairy cows that rely on those land and water resources, though.  Learn from Audubon California’s Khara Strum about what happy cows and migratory birds have in common, including the potential impacts of recent groundwater legislation.  For a preview, be sure to tune into Capital Public Radio’s Insight With Beth Ruyak program on Tuesday, January 3rd at 9am or the rebroadcast at 7pm.

As always, SCIENCE NIGHT LIVE has a cash bar for beer and wine purchases and a food truck for dinner and snacks, so you won’t go thirsty or hungry throughout the evening!

Contact the museum for directions and more information at 209.368.0969 or nick[at]wowsciencemuseum[dot]org.
